Realising a dream, setting goals, putting into action the plan with discipline, overcoming internal and external oppositions, the need for others support and encouragement; these are the Monday Tuesday Wednesday every day things we do as we face our fears, strive to break out of ruts, reach toward fulfilling those inner yearnings. And the exciting thing about these Everests is that we can live on their summits, not merely visit them for a brief moment.
The Tennis Coach realized that some of his players had all the necessary skills to be the best, they had learned how to defeat their opposition on the other side of the net yet they were most often defeated by their own internal fears, discouragements and sense of inadequacy. All of us have an 'Inner Opponent'. How many times have you decided to do something, in moments of clarity you know you have the talent, ability, skill but somehow when the moment comes you are sabotaged. The years go by and the same Achilles heel is struck again and again. If you examine and measure all the areas of 'failure' you will most probably recognise the same underlying reason. Thus life coaching not only helps you to set a goal, break it down into the bite sized bits but also identify and destabilise your own 'Inner Opponent'.
What about you? What is your Everest? What is the whispering dream within you? Career, relationship, changing your life direction, personal development, 'getting out of your rut'. And so, who then, who is the internal opponent?
Finding
your internal opponent, facing this 'Everest', joining you
on the journey to realise your inner dream, is the journey I
would love to join you on.
COMENSA (Coaches and
Mentors Association South Africa) defines coaching as "a
professional, collaborative and outcomes-driven method of
learning that seeks to develop an individual and raise
self-awareness so that he or she might achieve specific
goals and perform at a more effective level".
New Insights Africa defines life coaching as "a way to realise your true potential through a process of uncovering and then eliminating destructive behavioural and thinking patterns in your life – in a supportive, caring and inspirational environment.
This is
achieved by empowering people with specific tools and
scientifically tested techniques that work. Coaching is a
solution-focused approach to personal development that can
assist clients to make lasting changes in all areas of their
life."
We will meet every
second week, at these meetings we spend time setting
goals, creating action steps, gaining knowledge and
ideas on how to reach your goals faster and more
successfully. In between appointments you work
on the action steps you have set for yourself.
My role is to support, encourage, challenge and hold you accountable by being 100%
committed to you and your goals.

life coaching can work for you.
After completing my secondary education, I moved to Pietermaritzburg to study nursing at Grey's hospital. Having completed my studies, I traveled for a few years before returning to ICU nursing for 4 years. After some more travel, I spent 6 years working with a local Pietermaritzburg NGO, school leavers with Life Skills, Careers and Business Development tools. It was work that I loved, but my next natural step was to work with individuals or teams as a Life Coach.
I enjoy spending time outdoors and traveling. Canoeing and mountain biking provide immense satisfaction but more than that, have taught me so much about overcoming all of those internal opponents like fear and discomfort.
My passion has always been that each person is unique and if only we had the courage to live that uniqueness this world would be a better place.
'To help people come alive to their potential so that they live full and productive lives and become an inspiration to those around them.'
How can I do that? Firstly by continually
pushing myself out of my comfort zones, learning more and
more how to pursue my dreams, and not those others have for
me. Learning how to be fully me. And then learning skills
and tools to translate my life lessons and vision into
helping you set goals, overcome self-limiting beliefs and be
fully you.
An Everest is that thing that rises above all other dreams, desires. All too often it is hidden; so lofty that it is in cloud, so far away that it may as well be on another continent, so unique that it masked by all the other peaks about. For each of us it is different: expression through an art form, intimacy with a life partner, a life style, an activity, a vocation. The problem with Everest is that it is high and cold and out of our comfort zones and requires commitment and all sorts of resources. Yet it will not go away and there are days when it's peak is crystal clear and the surrounding busyness is quietened and we know that we have to do it.
